Nancy Carol Coleman Alexander

Nancy Coleman Alexander, 72, of Massey, MD, passed away peacefully in her home on March 13, 2017. Proceeding her in death are her husband, Joseph Alexander, and father, Davidson S. Coleman. She is survived by her mother, Carolyn Edwards Coleman; brothers, David (Ellen) and Michael Coleman; children, Kennard C. “Kenny” (Ladease) Coleman, II, and Theresa Coleman Fauteux (Douglas Potts); step-children, Joey (Hilary) Alexander and Franny (Brian) Sylvester; grandchildren: Rosemary “Rosie” (Mike) Johnson, Kennard C. “Bud” Coleman III, Emma Coleman (Greg Mears), TJ Fauteux, Chloe & Aubrey Sylvester, and Jordan & Jodi Alexander; great-grandson, Mack Johnson; and many more friends and family, particularly Gloria Weist, who was both friend and family. Nancy had many interests including sewing, snow skiing, dancing, playing cards, and thrift shopping. Nancy’s passion was gardening. She was a member of the Green Finger’s Garden Club for over 30 years and had a natural gift for flower arranging, winning many awards over the years for her creative designs. In addition to traveling and being a homemaker, Nancy enjoyed working in the home interior business for 30 plus years with her first husband, Kenny, and later for JCPenney. She dedicated most of her adult life to playing the organ in church – Betterton UM and St. Clements Episcopal in Massey. Equally passionate to gardening was her love for cooking. Nancy’s favorite place was home, either in her gardens or in the kitchen. She was known for her yummy desserts, along with her giving heart – as she was constantly baking and blessing others with her sweet creations. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be sent to Millington/Crumpton Food Bank, a local ministry that provides meals for many local families on a weekly basis. Nancy’s family would also like to thank the many health care providers that worked with her throughout her journey with cancer, particularly during her final days at home, Sharon Hines, Fran Wersten, Loretta Sutton, Emma Coleman, Margaret Smiley, Ellen Coleman and Compass Hospice. Services will be held on Saturday, March 18, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. Clements Episcopal Church, Massey, MD, where relatives and friends may call one hour prior (10-11am). Interment will be in St. Clements Cemetery, following the service. .
