Moira Jean Valente

Moira Jean Valente (Maggie) of Easton, MD passed away peacefully at home on March 19, 2025. She was born on October 5, 1934 in Ohio. After high school graduation, she worked for the U.S. Government at the Army Ordnance Depot in Toledo, Ohio, She then enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Florida where she was an assignment clerk until she was honorably discharged. It was in the Air Force that she met and married Tom Meredith, Jr. After having their 5 children, Maggie went back into the workforce for the U.S. Postal Service where she worked at the Wye Mills and Easton locations, and was a rural carrier. She then began working at the Kent Island Yacht Club where she was a bartender and then later taking on the responsibilities of the office manager. It was at the Yacht Club that she met and married John Valente. She later worked as a caregiver for Talbot Hospice and also for Home Instead. Maggie is survived by her children Linda Meredith of Easton, Kevin Meredith of Delaware, Tracy Meredith of Cordova and Amy (Paul) Hutchison of Easton. She is also survived by 2 brothers, Darryl (Diane) and Doug (Betty) Traver, both from Ohio. She was the proud grandmother & great grandmother of Craig Meredith, Justin Meredith and his children Lyrical & Caleb, Lindsey Ross and her children Rosalie & McKenzie, Tyler Ross (Kathleen) & their children Athena, Chance, & Eri, PJ (Becky) Hutchison and their children Hallie & Ryan, Ethan (Kayla) Hutchison and their children Lily, Lane & Lance, Jacob (Claire) Hutchison and their son Reece, Lane Hutchison and Christian McLoughlin. Maggie is predeceased by her parents Ralph & Rosella Traver, sister Sandy Koehler, brother Dennis (Pinky) Traver, ex-husband Tom Meredith, husband John Valente, daughter Sharon Foular & granddaughter Jessica Meredith. We are thankful that Maggie will no longer be in the company of all the ghosts that came along with the dementia she had for many years. She will no longer be in pain, she will no longer have sickness, she will no longer have to worry. She will now be able to enjoy the company of the loved ones that went before her. We take comfort in knowing we have a beautiful angel watching over us. Our family would like to thank Talbot Hospice for their care, help, knowledge and encouragement as we took care of our mother at home. It was not easy, but we would not have done it any differently. Services will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam 200 South Harrison Street, Easton, MD 21601. Visitation with the family will be on Wednesday, March 26 from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. Funeral service will begin at 12:00. Burial will follow at St Peter's Cemetery. Fellowship meal will be at Fairview Church of the Brethren.
