Michael Joseph Mobley

Michael Joseph Mobley beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, brother-in law, son-inlaw, father-in-law and friend, died suddenly but peacefully in his sleep at home at the age of 76. Mike was a good man with a heart of gold he shared over his lifetime with his family and friends - affectionately nicknamed “Boss” by his son in law. He was loyal, had a quick wit and a great sense of humor, loved family gatherings and quiet evenings, game nights, playing chess with his grandchildren, Aruba vacations, country music, cooking and toasting the sunset. He was an Army Veteran, a Boy Scout Leader for many years to Troop 31 in Chester County, PA, worked in the computer industry until he retired in 2006 from ARI, and he was a real estate agent from 2000-2017 since moving to Kent County, Maryland, in 1999. Mike had a deep affection for the many dogs who came into his life over the years, and shared this passion with his wife. Together they were always actively involved raising, training, or competing with their dogs. Mike was a natural leader and dedicated himself to serving local and national breed clubs in leadership positions or just helping out where needed. He was currently serving as Water Trial Chairman of the Portuguese Water Dog National Specialty to be held in September 2021 in Virginia Beach. He would be deeply honored to know that they are now planning to designate this event to his memory. He was devoted to his own three Portuguese Water Dogs who wonder where he is and why he isn’t doling out treats from the cookie jar. Mike was a loving husband for 45 years and a devoted father to his three children. He is survived by his wife, Jenny, daughter Erin Kusmider and her husband Ken Kusmider of Chestertown, son Michael Mobley and his girlfriend Jenn Lucas of Chestertown and son Christopher Mobley and his wife Jen Mobley of Lodi, Missouri. He was very proud of and adored his 8 grandchildren - Wylee, Zuzu and Chapin Kusmider of Chestertown and Delaney, Abbey, Clementine, Pixie and Kalliope Mobley of Missouri. He is also survived by his brother Thomas McGuigan and sister Tricia Barbato of New York and he will also be missed by numerous nieces, nephews, beloved in-laws and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister, Eileen McGuigan and his parents, Patricia and Tom McGuigan of New York. A Celebration of Life will be held for Mike at a later date where we will all Toast the Sunset.
