Michael Edward Boyle Sr.

Cordova - Michael (Mike) E. Boyle, Sr. passed away on January 14, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was 77 years old. Mike was born to Charles Francis Boyle and Mary Angela Gannon Boyle on July 25th, 1946, in Easton, MD. Mike grew up in a hardworking farming family with six children in Queen Anne. Upon high school graduation from Saints Peter and Paul High School, Mike enlisted in the US Army, honorably serving his country for three years. Mike returned to Queen Anne after completing his Army enlistment and soon met and married Shirley Swann of Cordova, MD in August 1971. Mike worked for over 40 years at Waverly Press, and then Cadmus, advancing from pressman, to supervisor, to account manager and ultimately team leader. Guided by his faith, Mike strongly believed in community service and helping others. He was an active and lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, and served as the chairman of its annual Horse Show & Jousting Tournament for over 40 years. Mike was a Grand Knight in the Knights of Columbus, a founding president of Chapel District Sports, an umpire for many softball and baseball games, a PTA President for Upper County Elementary School, an officer of the Eastern Shore Litho Club, member of the VFW and American Legion, a member and past director of the Talbot County Farm Bureau, and served on the Choptank Electric Trust for ten years. Mike also drove a VA van for veterans on trips to regional hospitals for over five years. Mike’s volunteerism touched so many in the local community. Mike is survived by his wife of 52 years, Shirley; three children Eddie, Cindy (Matt), and Billy (Tina); five grandchildren Jacob (Ariel), Brianna (Jody), Emma, Elsie and Noah and four great-grandchildren Aria, Kingston, Jacob and Brunson; siblings Jimmy (Ethel), Gene (Bonnie), Ann (Arty) and sister-in-law Sue; as well as many nieces and nephews. Mike is predeceased by his parents and brothers Charles and Andy. A viewing will be held on Monday, January 22 from 5-7pm at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, 200 S. Harrison Street, Easton, MD. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 11am at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 13209 Church Lane, Cordova, MD. Burial with military honors follows the funeral mass on the church grounds. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in memory of Mike to St. Joseph’s Church, 1214 S.
