Matthew D. Wooters

Matthew Daniel Wooters of Easton, MD died on Monday, January 12, 2009 at Memorial Hospital at Easton. He was 45. Born July 7, 1963 in Easton, he was the son of Holton E. Wooters and the late Sadie Pearson Wooters. A lifelong resident of Easton, he attended Talbot County Public Schools. At an early age he cut grass and later worked for Carter Supply in Cordova, Thompson Motors, delivered W.I.C. for Green Spring, was a caretaker for various estates in Talbot County, and most recently worked in the maintenance department for the Town of Easton. Mr. Wooters enjoyed being with his family, especially his Saturday mornings with his Dad and the family get togethers, playing with his grandchildren, working on old cars, painting pictures, decorating his Christmas trees, and spending time on his land in Dorchester County. He was a former member of Easton Moose Lodge #1520. In addition to his father, Mr. Wooters is survived by his wife, the former Tina Marie Stevenson, whom he married October 22, 1982; mother and father-in-law, Denny “Bud” and Patsy Stevenson of Preston; grandmother-in-law, Lelia Perry of Preston; three children, Heather Mitchell and her husband Shayne of Federalsburg, Amanda Wooters and her fiancé Mike Chupeck of Preston, and Amy Phoenix and her husband Serug of Preston; one sister, Deborah Lankford and her husband Bobby of Easton; four brothers, Holton A. “ Butch” Wooters and his wife Francine of Easton, Kenny Wooters and his wife Rose of Easton, Barry Wooters and his wife Terri of Federalsburg, and Dennis Wooters and his wife Tina of Easton; five grandchildren, Sarah, Malachi, Annie, Cody, and Ashlie; two grandchildren on the way; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 20, 2009 at 11:00 AM at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton, MD, where friends may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton. Serving as pallbearers will be Butch, Kenny, Barry, and Dennis Wooters, Bobby Lankford, and Corey Warren. Honorary pallbearers are Shayne Mitchell, Mike Chupeck, Serug Phoenix, and Eddie Lockary. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Tina M. Wooters, c/o Chevy Chase Bank, Waterside Village, Easton, MD 21601.
