Matthew "Matt" Joseph Blue

Matthew “Matt” Joseph Blue’s fight with cancer ended, passing away at home with his wife and friends by his side, at the age of 40, on Friday, April 5th, 2024. Born in Easton, Maryland to Melbourne “Ben” J. Blue and the former Edna M. Gulick, he graduated from Easton High School where he was a phenomenal athlete that played multiple sports. He attended Salisbury University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in Education and excelled at playing goalie for the Men’s Soccer Team. Following graduation Matt returned to Easton where he took on coaching positions for both the Easton HS soccer and baseball teams. In 2010, Matt started working for the Talbot County Public Schools as a Special Education Teacher and was adored by his students. Matt furthered his education and earned his Master’s in education from the Grand Canyon University. In 2016, Matt married the love of his life, Morgan Lushis, and together their family grew to include three amazing children – Dustin, Bronson, and Skylin. During this time Matt stepped back from coaching high school sports so that he could be more involved with, and coach his children’s’ teams, including BlueClaw Baseball. Matthew could always light up a room and has left a significant impact in his community. Matt is known as a friend, teammate, coach, teacher, mentor, father, husband, son, uncle, and brother, who has spread his encouragement, words of wisdom, and knowledge in more ways than I ever knew possible. Along with his loving wife and three children, Matt is survived by his parents, Ben and Edna Blue, and brother, Christopher Blue all of Easton. He is also survived by his beloved nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and close friends. He is preceded in death by his sister, Laura Ann Blue. A memorial mass will be held on Saturday, April 13th, 2024, at 10:30am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1210 S. Washington St., Easton, MD 21601. A Celebration of Matt’s life will follow at Doc’s Sunset Grille in Oxford with food and drinks available to purchase.
