Mason Brice Thomas

Mason Brice Thomas, age 13, passed away suddenly on December 10, 2025. Mason was an 8th grader at Centreville Middle School. He was an avid video game player who also loved fishing, swimming, hanging out with his friends, building Legos, and making people laugh with his amazing wit and perfect timing. He was one of the most kind, caring, and compassionate kids—someone whose gentle heart left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Mason had a deep love for animals, especially his beloved cat, Tully, who held a very special place in his heart. Mason was preceded in death by his maternal great-grandmother, Janice D’Agostino; his maternal grandfather, William Harvey Thomas III; and most recently, his great-aunt, Brigid Cobbs. He is survived by his loving mother, Katie Thomas; his grandmother, Kathleen (Mimi) Wirtz; his grandfather, Richard (Granddad) Wirtz; Teresa (Addy) Schaefer; his cherished uncles, Matthew and Andrew Wirtz; his great-aunt and uncle, Monica Shano, and Daniel & Weiss Brown; his cousins, Paige (and husband Jake) Starke and baby cousin Patrick, “the boys”- Joe, William, and Zach Durkin; and his great-grandmothers, Betty( Grammy) Wirtz and Roberta(Other One Nana) Ingram. Mason is also survived by his chosen family, including his Aunt Heather, Laila, and Lilly; Crystal Coleman and family; De’Andre (DD) Redding; Myeshia Gross and family; Samantha (Aunt Jo) Burgess and family; Deborah (Nana) Stamper and her wife, Areatha (Mum-Mum) Perkins, Amber (Aunt Ta) Brock and family; Heidi (Miss Heidi) Fuchs; his best friend, Ryan McCracklin and a host of others too numerous to mention. Services for Mason will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home in Chestertown, Maryland on December 27, 2025. Friends and family may call from 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM, with services to follow at 2:00 PM. A reception will be held at 3:30, following the service. Mason’s family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the teachers and staff of Queen Anne’s and Kent County Public Schools, and most importantly, Corby Lofland, who helped shape Mason into the person he was today. We are forever grateful for all they have done. Mason’s kindness, compassion, and beautiful spirit will be forever remembered and deeply missed.
