Mary V. Thomas

Mary V. Thomas affectionately known as Ginny, was the daughter of the late Isaac Thomas Sr. and Mary E. Hynson. Born on March 12, 1962 in Chestertown, MD. She departed this life on October 23, 2009 in Baltimore MD. She was 47. Ginny was a faithful member of Mt. Olive AME Church Worton, MD., were she served as a Communion Stewardess was, also a member of the Booster Choir, and was a member of the Kitchen Committee. Ginny was a graduate of Kent County High School class of 81'. Working a number of jobs starting at Campbell Soup. Although Ginny she started with factory work she always loved taking care of people, so much so that most of her employment was in that field. Working at Chester Manor (Magnolia Hall), Corsica Hills, and Upper Shore Mental Health, were she worked until her health failed. Ginny loved helping and taking care of people that she started working for the late Mrs. John R. Richards of Heron Point who not only was her employer but became family. Ginny was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother that raised her Mary V. Thomas, whom she was named after and step-father James Hynson Sr. Leaves to cherish her memory one son Marcellus L. Black Jr, of Worton, MD, and two daughters Kimyata L. Black of Temple Hill, MD and Tia D. Jones of Milton, DE; her maternal grandmother Hilda Hopkins of Chestertown, MD; four grandchildren Trevyon D. Cann, William D. Cann III, Teiona N. Cann, and Tylia S. Green all of Milton DE; four sisters Wanda Conkey (Ralph) of Newark, DE, Samantha Harmon of Worton, MD, Tammara Thomas of Baltimore MD, Michelle Wilson (Charles) of Camden, NJ; three brothers Isaac Thomas Jr (Hope), Isaiah Manley(June) both of Chestertown MD, and Isaac Thomas II(Jameka) of Johnstown PA; aunts and uncles, Sudonia Gilbert and Wendy Gilbert of Chestertown, MD, Henry Gilbert (Andrea) of Dover, DE and Allie Gilbert (Leorna) of Nevada; five great aunts and four great uncles. Also survived by three step-sisters Hester Newman (Julius) of Chestertown, Lavern Blake (Adrian) of Worton, and Carol Standsbury(Calvin) of Marydel DE. Two Step brothers James Hynson Jr (Elaine) of San Banideo CA, and Stevenson Hynson (Gail) of Camden DE; Along with long time friend William Cann Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Funeral Services will be held on Friday October 30, 2009 at 1PM at Mt. Olive AME in Worton, MD where relatives and friends may call 10-1. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
