Marlyn S. Friedman

Marlyn S. Friedman of Grasonville, MD died at her home on Friday, December 12, 2003. She was 61. Born on September 17, 1942 in Woodbridge, NJ, she was the daughter of the late Jack and Celia Blum Turner. In 1964 she graduated from Russell Sage College in Troy, NY receiving a Bachelors degree in Mathematics and Education. She then received a Masters Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Loyola College in 1992. On January 3, 1981 she married Elliott I. Friedman and they made their home in Olney, MD. It was in 1988 that they moved to the Eastern Shore, residing in Grasonville. Mrs. Friedman began her teaching career at Woodbridge High School. She later moved to Maryland teaching at High Point High School, Springbrook High School, Jewish Day School, Easton High School, Queen Anne’s County High School, Kent Island High School and her most current position was at the Queen Anne’s County Alternative School. Mrs. Friedman was a member of the Mathematics Education Association and Prospect Bay Yacht Club. She enjoyed photography, boating, gardening, and spending time with her family. In addition to her husband, Elliott, she is survived by five children, Shari Simmons of Williamstown, NJ, Todd Jasnow (Patty) of San Diego, CA, Dr. Michael Friedman (Dana) of Augusta, GA, Jill Mattos (David) of Atlanta, GA and Andrew Friedman (Cara) of Los Angeles, CA; one brother, Stewart Turner (Ruth) of Tuxedo, NY; one step sister, Roberta Meyers of Wycoff, NJ; one step brother, Ronald Corwin of Westport, CT; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her stepmother, Florence Turner, to whom she was very close. Funeral services will be held at 12pm Sunday, December 14, 2003 at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A. in Centreville, MD. Internment will immediately follow at Oxford Cemetery in Oxford, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Marlyn S.
