Marilyn Marge Bildahl

We mourn the passing of a great lady, our devoted mother, grandmother, and loving wife. Marilyn M. Bildahl, of Oxford, Maryland passed away peacefully in her sleep on Thursday, April 11, 2002. She was 74 years old. Born May 8, 1927 in Rockford, Illinois to the late Alma and Ernest Johnson, Marilyn was the second of three children. After her marriage to Wayne Bildahl on September 3, 1948, she worked as a dental technician in Rockford, and also in Washington, D.C. where they moved when Wayne went to college. Marilyn was an accomplished homemaker most of her life. In 1984 Marilyn and Wayne fulfilled a longtime retirement dream when they moved to Oxford, MD, after previously living in Washington, D.C., Pennsylvania, Virginia, Wisconsin, and Australia. Marilyn loved traveling and was blessed with many opportunities to travel extensively throughout the world with her husband and children. Marilyn’s greatest love in life was her family; husband, children and grandchildren, and she was happiest when they were all together. She and Wayne enjoyed being near the water and spent many happy times sailing and boating. Marilyn was also an accomplished cook, and in her younger years loved entertaining friends. She lived her mother’s philosophy of “ I never met a person I didn’t like “, and she often told her children “ It’s the beauty inside of us that counts”. Throughout her life Marilyn was involved in many activities and organizations, including P.E.O. Sisterhood, the Visiting Nurses Association in Neenah, Wis., the American-Australian Association in Sydney, Australia, the Tred Avon Yacht Club, the Oxford Community Center, the Academy Art Museum, and the Church of The Holy Trinity in Oxford, MD. In addition to her husband, Marilyn is survived by, her three children; John Bildahl and his wife Sandy of Annapolis, MD, Joan Heim and her husband Steve of Louisville, CO. and James Bildahl and his wife Carol of Rowayton, CT. and by her six grandchildren; Katy and Travis Bildahl, Erik and Alissa Heim and Hannah and Madison Bildahl. Her brother Earl Johnson and her sister Lois Irvin predecease Marilyn. Lord, we do not complain that you have taken her from us, for she has led a full, loving and productive life. Rather, we thank you for giving her to us for so many wonderful years. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2002 at 11:00 am at the Church of The Holy Trinity, Oxford, MD. Burial will be at Oxford Cemetery, Oxford, MD. Serving as pallbearer’s will be James Spear, Erik Heim, William Torrey, Royce Peabody, Paul Colon and William Ernest Moore.
