"Shugie" Maralee T. Dill

Maralee T. Dill, affectionately known to family and friends as Shugie, passed away on Thursday, November 7, 2024, after a courageous eight-month battle with illness. She was 92 years old. Born in Carmichael, Maryland, on August 23, 1932, Shugie was the daughter of the late Lee and Velma Towers. A lifelong resident of the area, Shugie was deeply involved in her community, always ready to offer a helping hand whenever and wherever needed. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, and took great joy in spending time with her family, sharing meals with friends, and enjoying the beauty of the outdoors. She had a deep connection with nature and loved walking, taking solace in the simple pleasures of life. Shugie is survived by four children, Peggy Clough (Michael), Jim Tull (Robin), Jeannie Duty (John), and Bill Tull (Cheryl). She was the proud grandmother of six grandchildren: Jamie Clough (Marybeth), Amy Kirby (Steven), Crystal Dudding (Josh), Emmylou Pilkerton (Kenny), John Duty Jr. (Tracie), and Amber Duty (Charlie). Additionally, she leaves behind ten great-grandchildren: Brady Higgs, Brent Higgs, Colin Dudding, Read Dudding, John Duty III, Ryan Duty, Jaxon Pilkerton, Alice Pilkerton, Colton Pilkerton, and Alexa Smith. She is also survived by her sister, Fay Rogers, and sisters-in-law Verona and Ketty Towers. Shugie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William (Buck) Dill, two sons, Hobby Tull and Donald Tull, and her grandson, Courtland Lambert. She was also predeceased by her siblings, Bros Towers, Buddy Towers, Johnny Towers, and Judy Simpson. The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Bonnie Coleman, as well as Debbie and Kevin Shaw, for their unwavering kindness and support during this difficult time. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 10, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville, MD. A funeral service will be held on Monday, November 11, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a burial at Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville, MD. In honor of Shugie's memory, contributions may be made to the Centreville Community Church of God, 101 Gray Fox Lane, Centreville, MD 21617.
