Louis "Jack" Palmatary

Louis Jonathan “Jack” Palmatary II, of Henderson, MD passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at his home in the loving arms of his wife, Lisa and surrounded by his family. He was 49 years old. He was born August 21, 1960 in Chestertown, MD., the son of Louis J. and Janet Palmatary of Barclay, MD. On a family trip to Florida, Jack met the love of his life and best friend, Lisa Callahan. Jack and Lisa have been together since Jack was in the 8th grade and Lisa in the 7th and the two were married in 1979. Jack followed in his fathers footsteps and became a grain and dairy farmer. He was an accomplished sportsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and playing softball. Jack was a respected member of the Queen Anne’s 4-H Park Board and the 4-H Fair Board. He was also a member of the Eastern Shore Holstein Association and the Dairy Herdsman Improvement Association where he promoted the dairy industry. He was the founder of the Queen Anne’s County 4-H fair Cream of the Crop event which showcases the best of the best in breeding and showmanship of dairy cattle. Jack enjoyed mentoring young “hunters” and coaching Little League baseball. He was an avid collector of Indian artifacts, especially arrow heads and boasts an impressive collection of greater than 500. He displayed these in his trophy room which he designed and built from beams collected from old barns. The room is a hunter’s paradise complete with multiple deer mounts and antique farming implements. Jack was preceded in death by one son, Louis Jonathan Palmatary III. He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Lisa of Henderson, MD., and their three children, Amy Williams and her husband Franklin of Barclay, MD, Ashley Collier and her husband Andy of Denton, MD and Jonathan Palmatary of Henderson. Jack is survived by his four grandchildren Emmy, Logan, Briley and Halley Williams of Barclay, MD. He is also survived by two sisters, Lori and her husband Mark Benney, Nancy Pippin and her husband Tommy and their children, Joe, and Olin. Jack was also survived by his brother Eddie Palmatary and his wife Wendy and their children, Jimi, Tabitha, Bradley and Dylan. Family was important to Jack and he was very fond of his extended sisters and brothers in law; Lori Collier and her husband Bob, Marty “Optie” Dawkins and her husband Michael and Linda Benton and her husband Curtis as well as several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday, March 26, 2010 from 5-8 pm at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home 408 S. Liberty St. Centreville, MD. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 27, 2010 at 11 am at Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church in Sudlersville, MD. Interment will be private for family in Sudlersville Cemetery in Sudlersville, MD., following the service.
