Louise Wooleyhan

Louise Wooleyhan of Sudlersville, Maryland, died Tuesday, January 9, 2007, in her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 92. Mrs. Wooleyhan was born in Queen Anne’s County, Maryland, the daughter of the late, Louis and Bertha Meredith Anderson. She was a homemaker and enjoyed all aspects of home. She loved to sew, quilt, and cook, and loved working in her garden. For many of her younger years, Mrs. Wooleyhan could be found with her husband milking the family cows on the farm. She loved helping family and friends, and seemed to always be available to help where it was needed. She also always found a way to make sure that there was plenty to eat and an empty seat for unexpected guests at meal time. A devoted Christian, she truly served her church. She was a member of the Downs Chapel Church, Clayton, Delaware, where she served as President for many years of the Ladies Aide of the church. She was also a member of the Temple Grange, she served on the Executive Committee of the Sudlersville High School Alumni Association, where she graduated in 1931. She was a member of the Templeville Homemakers Club, the Top of the Hill Club of Sudlersville, and was also a member of the Busic’s Church Ladies Aide. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Wooleyhan was preceded in death by her husband, James Alfred Wooleyhan in 1990; a son, James Richard Wooleyhan in 1991; and a sister, Nora Smith. Mrs. Wooleyhan is survived by three daughters, Virginia W. “Ginger” Jones of Marydel, MD, Alice W. “Aggie” Calloway of Centreville, MD, and Patricia W. Chance of Clayton, DE; one sister, Martha Crelling of Dover, DE; seven grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 13, 2007, at 2:30 p.m. in the Downs Chapel Church, Clayton, Delaware, where friends may call an hour prior. Friends and family may also call Friday evening from 7-9 p.m. in the Fellows Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home,P.A., 370 W. Cypress St., Millington, MD Interment will follow the church services in the Sudlersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in her memory to the Downs Chapel Church, C/O Ginger Jones, 6703 Sudlersville Road, Marydel, MD 21649.
