Louise R. Valliant

Mary Louise Remont Valliant died at her home, in Oxford, MD, on Friday October 6, 2006, after an extended illness. She was 92. Born April 29, 1914, in Media, PA, she was the daughter of the late Anna Deans and Louis Maurice Remont. Mrs. Valliant was educated in the Delaware County Public Schools before attending Duke University, where she was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority. One June 8, 1935, she married Jeremiah Valliant, who preceded her in death in 1994. A member of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Oxford, Mrs. Valliant was an active member of the Altar Guild and the ECW. Prior to moving to Oxford in 1970, Mr. and Mrs. Valliant were active members of St. Peters Episcopal Church of Salisbury, MD; serving in various capacities, including president, of the ECW and the Alter Guild. She was also very active in the Junior Board Auxiliary of Peninsula General Hospital. Mrs. Valliant is survived by three daughters, Carolie V. Patton of Berlin, Maryland, Jan V. O’Neal of Kensington, Maryland, and Elizabeth V. Rankin of Salisbury, North Carolina; six grandchildren, Jeffrey Valliant Fears and his wife Jill of Salisbury, Maryland, Commander Douglas Margrave Fears USCG and his wife Kate of Washington, DC, Stacy O. Gallagher and her husband Marty or Waynesboro, Pennsylvania Amy Rinker O’Neal of Vienna, Virginia, Robert Jeremiah Rankin and his wife Caddie of Atlanta, Georgia, and Anna Newsom Rankin of Charlotte, North Carolina; seven great-grandchildren, Sloan Gilbert Hartless of Waynesboro, Pennsylvania, Genevieve Abigail, Victoria Alexandra, Jeremiah Valliant, Zachary Edward and Daniel Christopher Fears of Salisbury, Maryland, and Joshua Valliant Fears of Washington, DC. In addition to her parents and her husband, Mrs. Valliant is preceded in death by an infant daughter, Judith; and a sister, Anna Elise Remont. . A memorial service will be held at The Church of the Holy Trinity Oxford, MD, on Wednesday, October 11, 2006, at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.
