Louise Marie DeFeo

Louise Marie Martin DeFeo quietly passed away on November 23, 2020, with her family at her side. She was born on April 28, 1941, in the District of Columbia to Raymond and Mary Elizabeth Martin. Louise was predeceased by her beloved husband, Bill, in 2011 after 51 years of marriage. Love of family came first, and she selflessly worked to provide for them, serving as the family anchor for all that life brought forward. Louise began a career working as a Program Support Specialist at the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission Sports Office. She enjoyed the constant interaction with various Boys and Girls Clubs and adult athletic programs. She made lifelong friends during her over 20-year career. Upon retirement, Louise and Bill moved from New Carrollton, MD, to Queenstown, MD. This move brought a new chapter in her life. She immediately joined St. Peter's Catholic Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and was involved in numerous church activities. She was awarded the Order of Merit by Bishop W. Francis Malooly of the Diocese of Wilmington in recognition for her outstanding contributions. Louise and Bill enjoyed a peaceful but busy life after retirement. She joined the local Senior Center and enjoyed arts and crafts and various trips. The couple supported their grandchildren in their many athletic endeavors, sometimes traveling hundreds of miles to attend games and competitions. Louise was an avid scrapbooker and captured many priceless moments for her family to enjoy forever. Louise is survived by four loving children, Terry (Tom) Hayden, Louise Rosenberry, Mary (Mike Mutchler) Mires, and Bill (Cindy) DeFeo. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Raymond DeFeo, and sister, Mary Agnes Russo. She is survived by two sisters, Roberta Cadwell and Margaret Martin. A visitation will be held on Friday, November 27, 2020, from 6-8 pm at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. in Centreville, MD. A Mass will be held on Saturday, November 28, 2020, at 10:30 am at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Centreville, MD. Interment will be private at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Washington, DC.
