Louise C. Leonard

Louise Christine Leonard, age 70, passed away on April 7, 2006, of respiratory failure at Easton Memorial Hospital. She is survived to Seth Leonard Szold of New Fairfield, Connecticut and his wife Susan, Jennifer Szold Bohnert of Scottsdale, Arizona and her husband Jon; devoted and loving sister to Lorelle Reese of Lafayette, Louisiana and Charles Leonard of Eldersburg, Maryland; four grandchildren, Tom and Charlie Szold, Lexie and Daniel Bohnert whom she adored and loved. Louise is also survived by her long-time companion, Jack Macdonald, who brought her great happiness and contentment. She loved him very much. Ms. Leonard was born November 9, 1935, in Cleveland, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late Charles B. Leonard and Ethel Hoffert. She was educated in the public schools of Pikesville, Maryland, and attended the University of North Carolina and graduated from Oberlin College. Ms. Leonard also studied at the University of Illinois where she earned a masters degree in Psychology. Ms. Leonard worked in Washington, DC, for a short while where she successfully passed the examination for the U.S. Foreign Service. Marriage to Myron R. Szold changed her plans, and she accompanied her husband to Germany where he was assigned with the U.S. Army. She returned home to raise a family in Evanston, Illinois, and Port Washington, New York. Ms. Leonard was a management consultant for TPF&C in New York City for many years. She specialized in compensation and employee benefits prior to retiring to Easton, Maryland. This had been her dream and she spent some of the happiest times of her life here. Ms. Leonard was active in The Choral Society, The Republican Women’s Club, The Academy of the Arts, and many various bridge clubs. She accompanied her long-time companion, Jack Macdonald, on many sailing cruises around the Bay. Ms. Leonard was also secretary for The Shireton Condominium Association. Services will be held at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam, P.A., Easton, Maryland, on Thursday, April 13, at 10:00 AM. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Graveside services will also be held on Thursday at 2:30 PM at the Lake View Memorial Park in Sykesville, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Academy of the Arts, 206 South Street, Easton, MD 21601.
