Lorraine Scharf Pierce

Lorraine Margaret Scharf Pierce, 52, died suddenly at home on May 21, 2017. She was born in Derby, CT, on November 12, 1964, to James and Marion Scharf. Lorraine had two sisters, Laura Scharf-Guarino and Lisa Stearns. After she and a team of classmates won a State mock trial championship, she graduated from Seymour High School in 1983. Lorraine then headed off to Albertus Magnus College, followed by obtaining a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Speech Communications from Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, TX, in 1987. In January of 1988, she met Roger Pierce. Little did she know at that first meeting the amazing and wonderful twists and turns their lives would take together. Lorraine and Roger lived in San Diego and Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX, and were married on July 24, 1993, at her family’s church in Oxford, CT. Thereafter the couple moved to Wanaque, NJ, and finally to their beautiful riverside home in Queenstown, MD. Lorraine had many roles in her lifetime, including client services representative, station supervisor for America West Airlines, and Senior Victim Services Coordinator for the State of Maryland for over 10 years. Several years ago, she realized her dream of owning her own business when she founded Lighthouse Home Staging & Design. Lorraine’s caring, light and unconditional love touched countless lives, making her most important roles those of daughter, sister, wife, caregiver, best friend, dog & cat mom, and many more. Lorraine loved to travel, and with Roger, and they created many happy adventures together. One of their favorite getaways was St. Croix in the US Virgin Islands, where they owned a cozy villa near the beach. Lorraine’s smile, laugh, and loving heart will be sorely missed by her husband of 25 years, her mom & dad, sisters, brothers-in-law, sister-in-law, her extended family, co-workers, and many many good friends. A memorial mass will be held at St. Christopher’s on Kent Island on Thursday, June 1 at 11 a.m. All are welcome.
