Lillian Johnson

Lillian Mae Johnson departed this earthly life on Friday, September 10, 2010 at the Lorien Nursing Home, Belcamp, Md. She was born November 7, 1914, Goldsboro, Md. to the late Emmett and Louise Gould Kennedy. Lillian was the last survivor of her 13 siblings, she was 95. Lillian was educated in the public school system of Caroline County. She married her beloved John Wesley Johnson and from this union three daughters, Mary, Virginia and Lucinda were born. She was employed many years domestically in Queen Anne’s and Kent County until retirement. “Mom” or “Mom Lillian” as she was affectionately called was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was an excellent cook; especially her Apple Dumplings, Rice and Bread Puddings. Lillian found great joy in attending services at Asbury United Methodist Church, Chesterville, Md., and later membership at Graves Chapel UAME, Millington, Md. She loved family gatherings (dinners), visits to and from family and friends. She filled her days listening to gospel music and conversations with her sister-in-law Marian Kennedy. She was loved so much and will tremendously be missed. After the death of her youngest daughter / caretaker Lucinda Martin she moved to the private care of Mrs. Natisha Luck, Port Deposit, Md. who lovingly nurtured and cared for her. She was very happy with her final living arrangement. She was preceded in death by her husband John, two daughters Mary Duckery and Lucinda Martin, two sons-in-law Charles Duckery Sr. and Theodore Duckery, two grandsons Earl Johnson and Thomas Duckery. Mom leaves to cherish many precious memories her daughter Virginia Duckery, Chesterville, Md., seven grandchildren Louis Duckery, Glen Burnie, Md., Harold Duckery, Ridgely, Md., Charles Duckery Jr, Woodbridge, Va., Shirley Duckery, Chestertown, Md., Sharon Greene, Dover, De., Howard (Anna) Duckery Harve De Grace, Md. and Helena Duckery, Aberdeen, Md., seven great grandchildren, eight great-great grandchildren, her sister-in-law and devoted friend Marian Kennedy, Sudlersville, Md., sister-in-laws Rosie Johnson, Wilmington, De., Libby Kennedy, Philadelphia, Pa, sister and brother-in-law Ann and Lloyd Thomas, Ridgely, Md., dear friends Dorothy Johnson, Denton, Md. and Narvis Jean Gallman, Temple Hills, Md. plus a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
