Leslie Couchenour Jr.

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Leslie "Les" Couchenour Jr., who left this world on August 13, 2026 at home surrounded by family, at the age of 62. Born on February 28, 1964 in Cheverly, Maryland, Les lived a life marked by compassion, integrity, and genuine care for others. He believed that life's greatest treasures were the relationships we built, and he dedicated himself wholeheartedly to his family and friends. Les grew up in Anne Arundel County, making friends who would last a lifetime. He and his former wife, Christine Cochran, moved to Bel Air MD to raise their 3 children. He thoroughly enjoyed coaching their sports teams and was the ultimate "cheer Dad." More recently, he lived on the Eastern Shore with his wife Julie, as he found comfort near the water. Together, they spent their time bike riding, kayaking, attending sporting events and concerts, and traveling to see their children and grandchildren. He was a lifetime Washington Commander's fan and a car enthusiast. As a husband, Les was loving, supportive and devoted. His sense of humor was natural and spontaneous, and he made friends wherever he went. Les was a lifelong learner who valued education and hard work. He graduated from University Of Maryland with a BS in Business. He then went on to achieve his MS in Business, as well as his MBA from Johns Hopkin's University. Early in his career, he worked for Citibank. He was especially proud of being part of the team that took CAIS public. He rounded out his career as a global accounts manager for AT&T before retiring in 2015. Throughout his career, he earned the respect of colleagues and friends through his dedication, knowledge, and integrity. He was proud of his accomplishments, but even more proud of the relationships he built along the way. Les is survived by his devoted wife, Julie Couchenour; mother, Lynda Yoder; father, Leslie Couchenour, Sr. (Diane); son, Zachary Couchenour; daughters, Lexie Couchenour and Natalie Ritter (Zac), as well as his grandson Griffin; his brother, Eric Staples; niece and nephew Alyssa and Morgan Staples; stepbrother, Eric Baden; stepsons Nick Werner (Kelly) and Kyle Werner (Olivia) and their 4 children, Brooklynn Keene, Cohen, Gus and Laney Werner. Though our hearts are broken by his passing, we are deeply grateful for the time we shared with him and the countless memories he leaves behind. He will be missed beyond measure and remembered always with love, gratitude, and admiration. Per Les' wishes, no service will be held at this time. He preferred that his family and friends celebrate his life. This celebration will be held at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends once arrangements have been finalized.
