Katherine Elizabeth Legg

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Katherine Elizabeth Legg. She was called home to be with the Lord on November 10th, 2024, at the age of 86. Born on Kent Island in 1938, Katherine was the daughter of the late Benjamin (Roger) and Loleta Denny. She attended Stevensville Elementary and High School. On September 24th, 1955, she married the "love of her life", Weldon (Guinea) Legg. They raised their family and lived on Kent Island up until Guinea passed away in 2014. Katherine moved to Queen Anne in 2017 with her daughter and son in law. But she always said: "Kent Island would always be her home". Katherine worked at W.E. Denny & Son in Stevensville for a while, then waitressed at Fisherman's Inn for over 20 years. She then went on to work for Queen Anne's County Board of Education in the food services department. She loved working with the children and was an excellent cook! Katherine retired in 2001. She loved to travel. Her and Guinea went many places. One of the most memorable was the Holy Land in 1980. She loved camping with family and friends, the annual family vacations at the beach, and the cherished trips to Disney World Florida with the grandchildren. She loved family and friend gatherings at her home-the door was always open. In 1973 she joined the United Methodist Church on Kent Island. She became a very dedicated and devoted member for the rest of her days. Katherine served the church and the Lord in many ways. Katherine is survived by her son, Weldon (Donnie) Legg, daughter Darla (Vernon) Coultas, her sister Maxine Howard, and sister-in-law, Sandra Denny. She is also survived by her grandchildren; Jared (Katherine) Legg, Stephanie (Kenny) Hope, Cory (Amanda) Legg, Ryan (Abbie) Legg, 8 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Weldon (Guinea) Legg, daughter Teena Alton, son-in-law Tommy Alton, grandson Chad Coultas, and her brother Toddy Denny. A memorial service will be held 12 noon on Saturday November 23rd, 2024, at the Kent Island Methodist Church 2739 Cox Neck Road Chester, MD 21619, where family and friends may visit one hour prior, 11am to 12pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Kent Island Methodist Church or the Kent Island Fire Department.
