Karen Louise Kilheffer

Karen Louise Kilheffer was born in Lancaster, PA, on January 18, 1942, to Charles and Dorothy Kilheffer. She was predeceased by her only sister Chrissy and both parents. Karen graduated from Penn State in 1964, where she met Chris and Susan Coile. They developed a friendship that would last a lifetime. After graduation Karen went to work for Air Canada where she made travel arrangements for clients going anywhere in the world. She enjoyed her work until that day when she got that “call “ from Chris Coile that he needed her to help him with his new real estate company. What a stroke of luck for both Chris, Karen and the rest of us that they have become her real estate family. She worked with Chris Coile and Associates until Chris sold to Merrill Lynch. She then started working with Robin Stalling and Associates. Robin and Karen were a force to be reckoned with in the real estate Industry in Anne Arundel County. Karen was the math wizard and Robin was the sales guru. After forging both a personal and professional relationship, Robin and Karen became life partners. Together they raised Rod, Bridget and Ashly. In 1987, Chris decided after retiring to Montana that there was not nearly enough excitement there for him so he called his “team” together again. Soon Champion Realty was born and Karen became one of founding executives. In 1990, after working with the administrative offices for over three years, Karen was asked to move to the Kent Island Office as Temporary Manager. Twenty-four years later, she wouldn’t have left for anything in the world, and they wouldn’t have let her! She spent 45 years working with the Anne Arundel County, Bay Area, and Mid-Shore Associations of Realtors. In 2003, Karen joined the Caroline County Humane Society Board of Directors, becoming President of the in 2009-2011. Her love of animals has been a driving force in her entire life’s mission. As we would all expect, in lieu of flowers, Karen asked that all donations go to the Caroline County Humane Society, 407 West Bell Street, Ridgley, MD 21660, for the care and health of animals that are unable to care for themselves. A memorial service will be held on January 31, 2015, at Christ Church Kent Island, 830 Romancoke Road, Stevensville, MD 21666, at 11 am, with a luncheon to follow at the church.
