Kara Ann Brandenburg

On July 8, 2024, Kara Ann Jenkins Brandenburg, 55, was called home. She is predeceased by her parents, Marcia Kay Mowery Jenkins and William Joseph Jenkins, Sr. Kara grew up in Catonsville, MD. She attended Seaton Keough High School and went on to graduate summa cum laude at Notre Dame of Maryland with a degree in Psychology. She spent most of her career at Mercy Medical Center in both Labor and Delivery and Prevention and Research. Her favorite position she held, however, was being a mother. While having two children of her own she would do anything to help the children around her. From lending an ear to assisting in a life crisis, she was always someone that could be relied on. Above all else, she wanted those around her to be happy. Kara was an avid gardener and loved to plant a garden full of color. She also enjoyed spending time boating on the Chester River while reminding everyone around to reapply sunscreen, a sunburn was not allowed. Recently, her favorite activity was taking her granddaughter Nora to the public library for story time. Kara is survived by her husband of 31 years, Stephen Edward Brandenburg; her children, Savannah Brandenburg Lucas and her husband Matt, and Luke Brandenburg and Kelsey Lesniewski; granddaughter Nora Helene Lucas; siblings Rachel Jenkins Born and her husband Greg, Bob Jenkins and his wife Susan, and William Jenkins Jr. and his wife Donna; sister-in-law Joanie Brandenburg Hynes and her husband David; nieces and nephews, Madison Born Gilbert and her husband Danny, Mason Born and his wife Mackenzie, Matthew and Molly Born, Alex, Adam, Aidan, Andrew and Austin Jenkins, Jake and Rees Jenkins, Kaitlyn Hynes DiFerdinando and her husband Joe, Andy and Jonathon Hynes; great nieces and nephews, Alice Gilbert, JD, Charlie and Dottie DiFerdinando; cousin Lynda Fogle. She is also survived by an incredible group of friends who she viewed as family. A Christian mass will be celebrated on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:30 am at St Christopher’s Catholic Church, 1861 Harbor Drive, Chester, Maryland 21619. Close friends and family are invited to attend a celebration of life at 12:30pm at Fisherman’s Crab Deck, 3032 Kent Narrow Way S, Grasonville, MD. In lieu of flowers, we simply ask that you help a friend, neighbor, or family member in need.
