Julia Satchell

Angels came down to bring one of their own back home, on February 22, 2014, Julia P. Satchell ascended to her rightful place in Heaven. She died surrounded by her loving family in her home that she and her husband Curtis C. Satchell, III, built in Trappe, MD. She was 69 years old. Julia P. Satchell was born August 14, 1944, in Salisbury, MD. to the late James and Ruth Parsons. She graduated from Pocomoke High School and moved to Easton at age 17 to fulfill her dream of becoming a nurse. She graduated from The Memorial Hospital School of Nursing in 1965. After graduation, she worked in the emergency room at Memorial Hospital in Easton where she met her husband. She started working at Talbot County Health Department in 1979 and continued to work there until a month before her passing, servicing the health of the community for over 30 years. She loved being a nurse and helping her patients. Julia P. Satchell met Curtis C. Satchell, III, of Easton, while she was working as a nurse at Memorial Hospital and he was working as a volunteer ambulance driver. They married on May 20, 1970, at the Methodist Church in her hometown of Snow Hill, MD. Julia P. Satchell is survived by her husband, Curtis C. Satchell, III; her son, Scott and his wife Karen Satchell; her daughter, Gretchen Satchell; and her step-grandchildren, Conner and Alexandra Satchell. She was excited about the birth of her soon-to-be-born granddaughter, Gabriella River Satchell. She is further survived by her beloved brother, Wayne Parsons, and her nephews, Bryan and Mark Parsons and their families. She is also survived by her husband’s family whom she loved very much, her sister-in-law Nancy Baker; her brothers-in-law Randall Satchell and his wife Bette Ann, Donnie Satchell and his wife Tere; and Terry Satchell and his wife Luanne, and their families. A viewing will take place on Thursday, February 27, 2014, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Easton, with a funeral service on Friday, February 28, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Easton. Burial will be a New Spring Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to go to Patient in Need (PIN) Fund c/o Mid-Shore Community Foundation, The Bullitt House, 102 Dover Street, Easton, MD 21601. This fund, special to Julia’s heart, was started by the staff of The Cancer Center to assist people with special needs.
