John W. Garner

John William Garner of Little Silver, NJ, died suddenly on Thursday, October 18, 2007, while in Phoenix, AZ. He was 62. Born on July 24, 1945, in Washington, D.C. he was the son of the late Charles W. and Edna Hall Garner of Tall Timbers, MD. He attended Ryken High School in Leonardtown, MD, and the University of Maryland where he received a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He was employed by the Department of the Navy from 1964 to 1984 and at Booz Allen Hamilton from 1984 to present. Jack resided in Annapolis, MD from 1975 to 2000, and in Little Silver, NJ, from 2000 to present. At Booz Allen, Jack led many C41 initiatives in defense markets supporting the Navy in Lexington Park, and since 2000, in Eatontown supporting the Army CECOM community. As a leader, Jack was passionate about his work and dedicated to the welfare of his team. Jack is remembered by colleagues and staff as a true patriot who was committed to helping our men and women in uniform. Jack believed that service to our nation was one of the highest callings; and his sense of duty was an inspiration to both his clients and his staff. Jack will be remembered for his generosity and living life to the fullest with respect and honor for all around him. He is survived by his beloved wife Kandice Lowery Garner, two daughters; Courtney Harden of Alexandria, VA, and Amanda Garner of Greensboro, NC, two sisters, Ann Svelan of Yorktown, VA, and Patricia Ernest of Virginia Beach, VA, a brother Charles Garner of Annapolis, MD, and a grandson Davis Harden. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Thursday, October 25, 2007, at St. Christopher’s Catholic Church in Chester, MD at 11:00 A.M. Friends may call at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., 200 South Harrison Street Easton, MD on Wednesday, October 24, 2007, from 6 to 8 P.M. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.
