John Fountain Davidson Sr.

John Fountain Davidson, Sr. of Stevensville, MD died at Memorial Hospital in Easton on August 27, 2004. He was 79. Born on Steven''s Adventure Farm in Stevensville, MD on September 29, 1924, he was the son of the late Philip T. Davidson and Pauline Jackson Davidson. He attended Stevensville High School. Mr. Davidson worked as a farmer, waterman, hunting guide and in the construction business. His career with Potts Callahan of Baltimore spanned 35 years, until retiring in 1992 as Vice President. Mr. Davidson married Clara Bryan of Stevensville, MD on November 25, 1942. He was a very avid hunter and fisherman. The Kent Island Businessmen''s Association cited him for bravery for his assistance in rescuing two men from a hunting blind, in 1957, off Kent Point. He also held the record for the largest Blue Fish ever caught in the Chesapeake Bay, which was over 22 lbs. In addition he will be remembered by his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and many friends for teaching them how to fish, hunt and have respect for the great outdoors. Mr. Davidson was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church, where he served on the vestry for 2 terms. In addition he was active on the Kent Island Heritage Society and served on the Stevensville Advisory Board. In addition to his wife, Clara Bryan Davidson, he is survived by six children, Joann D. Anderson of Chester, MD, Rebecca D. Wieland of Easton, MD, Margaret D. Jarboe of Stevensville, MD, John F. Davidson, Jr. of Stevensville, MD, P. Norman Davidson of Queenstown, MD and Harry Jackson Davidson of Stevensville, MD; five siblings, Louise M. Price of Stevensville, MD, Phyllis D. Pippin of Stevensville, MD, Harry M. Davidson of Chester, MD, Phillip J. Davidson of Bridgetown, MD and Philip T. Davidson of Denton, MD; twelve grandchildren, Kari Anderson-Hoehn of Ruxton, MD, William E. Wieland Jr. of Easton, MD, Bryan D. Wieland of Easton, MD, Tamara D. Rosendale of Stevensville, MD, Tricia L. Davidson of Queenstown, MD, Michael F. Jarboe of Stevensville, MD, Rebecca J. Jarboe of Stevensville, MD, Kara R. Davidson of Stevensville, MD, John A.J. Davidson of Stevensville, MD, Christopher Kerr of Salisbury, MD, Kevin Kerr of Centreville, MD and Kenneth Kerr of Centreville, MD; and seven great grandchildren, Mason A. Hoehn of Ruxton, MD, Emily R. Jarboe of Stevensville, MD, Elizabeth R. Jarboe of Stevensville, MD, Cassie R. Karns of Stevensville, MD, Lily M. Wieland of Easton, MD, Megan Rosendale and Jake Rosendale. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, August 31, 2004 at the Christ Episcopal Church in Stevensville, MD at 11 AM. Family and friends may call at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A. Chester, MD on Monday, August 30, 2004 between the hours of 3PM to 5PM and 7PM to 9PM. Internment will follow in Stevensville Cemetery, Stevensville, MD. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Department, P.O.
