John Kuntz

Our dear father, loving husband, and grandfather, John Kuntz, peacefully departed this life on November 18, 2007, surrounded by the love of his family, having recently celebrated his 80th birthday. He was born on October 29, 1927 in Lansford, PA to George and Mary Perzel Kuntz and was baptized in the Slovak Lutheran Church, also in Lansford. After graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy in Washington, DC where he met and married his wife, Ann, aka ‘Babe’. They were married 59 years. In 1965, John relocated his family from Falls Church, VA to the Eastern Shore where he was employed as chief pilot and Vice President of Sales with the Durolith Corporation. He later became employed with the U.S. Postal Service retiring after 25 years in September, 2001. John was a very talented man with many interests and hobbies. In addition to enjoying, fishing, painting, tinkering, cooking, and photography, John was a master rug weaver, an art he inherited from his father. He could often be found at the local Farmer’s Market on Saturday mornings selling his wares. At home, he enjoyed playing the organ. In addition, he was an avid Redskins Fan for over 60 years. A true patriot, John was a 50 year member of the Masonic Glebe Lodge of Arlington, VA and Coates Lodge of Easton, MD. He was also a member of the American Legion, Post #70, Easton, MD. He is survived by five children, Karin Kuntz, Robyn Gannon, Penny Trice, Kimberly Knussman and husband Kevin, and John Kuntz, all of Easton. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Eric Nichols, Lindsay Moore, Paige Knussman, Hope Knussman and Lisa Kuntz, and one great-grandchild. In addition, he is survived by his sister Mary Thomas of Lansford, PA and brother Michael Kuntz and wife Gay of Powell’s Point, NC and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by brother George Kuntz, Jr. and sister Anna Rohall. John was happiest spending time with his family and will be deeply missed and forever in their hearts. Family and friends may call from 6 – 8 p.m., Friday November 23, 2007 at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, Easton, MD. Services will be held at the Easton Church of God on Saturday, November 24, 2007 at 1:00 p.m. with visitation 1 hour prior.
