John Jeffrey Jackson

John Jeffrey Jackson, always known as Jeff, died peacefully on March 31, 2026, at the age of 83 with his partner of 25 years, Barbara Oxnam, at his side. Jeff is survived by his two children, Brian Jeffrey Jackson of Concord, CA and Jennifer Elissa, of Long Island, NY as well as Geoff and Talli Oxnam of Easton, MD and Deborah and Michael Betsch of Weatherford, TX, who were as dear to him as his own children. Jeff is also survived by four beloved grandchildren: Charlotte Oxnam, Nichoas Oxnam, Andrew Betsch and Julianna Betsch. Jeff was raised in Larchmont, New York where he played on his high school football team and sailed in the winter series of Larchmont Yacht Club. Jeff was active in the Boy Scouts where he earned Eagle Scout. He was devoted to St. John's Episcopal Church where he sang in the choir, served as acolyte, and helped raise funds by making and selling Christmas wreaths. Jeff attended Lehigh University where he majored in Finance and played football and rugby. He subsequently received an MBA from Baruch College. Following service in the US Army, Jeff was a member of senior corporate management in international business finance with Shearson, United Brands, Allied Chemical, Warner-Lambert and Becton-Dickinson before becoming a broker with Paine Webber. As devoted to his business career as he was, Jeff cared deeply about serving his community. In Westfield, NJ, he served on the Vestry and Finance Committee of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. He also was state chairman of the predecessor organization to ARC of New Jersey where he devoted much time to designing programs for young people with disabilities throughout the state. He later moved to Westport, CT where he served on the congregational church’s vestry and taught sunday school. Jeff and Barbara worked with Habitat for Humanity and Christmas in April in Connecticut and served the homeless in New York City. Moving to Easton, MD in 2005, he and Barbara became actively involved in Easton’s Waterfowl Festival, Plein Air, Talbot Interfaith Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, and Food Link. In addition to serving the community, Jeff and Barbara loved to travel and pursue outdoor activities including kayaking, cross country skiing, sailing, and biking. Among Jeff's greatest gifts was his innate ability to bring fun, laughter, debate, and many jokes to any gathering. He loved bringing people together. He adored his children and grandchildren, attending their sports competitions, plays, and school activities. Jeff was predeceased by his father, Harry Rathborn Jackson; his mother, Elizabeth Ridlon Jackson; and his older sister, Joy Jackson. Funeral services will be held at Christ Church Easton (11 S. Harrison Street, Easton MD) on Thursday, April 30 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a gift in memory of Jeff Jackson to Talbot Hospice.
