John Edward Crovo

John Crovo, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on August 24, 2024, in Easton, MD. He was born on March 30, 1939, in Washington, D.C., and grew up in Northeast Washington and Hyattsville, MD. He attended Benjamin Franklin University in Washington D.C. John was the son of John and Ivy Crovo and cherished his two sisters, Judith Kelly Sheahin and Patricia Miller. John married the love of his life, Ruth Crovo, on May 17, 1958, after first meeting at Stewart Jr. High School. Together, they shared 66 wonderful years of marriage and raised three children: Andrew (Sandra) Crovo, Kelley (Daniel) DuBois, and Patrick (Dawn) Crovo. Family was the cornerstone of John’s life, and he took immense joy in his role as a father and grandfather to his grandchildren: Kaitlyn (Patrick) Girskis, Carleigh (Micah) Freeman, Christopher (Ashley) Crovo, Connor DuBois, Brayden Crovo, Samantha Crovo, and Casey DuBois, as well as his 12 great-grandchildren. John proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1961. He had a successful career as the vice president of sales and marketing at JL Clarke, later owning and operating an income tax business, and eventually becoming the president of Watermark Communications. Known for his kindness and compassion, John was a friendly man who made friends everywhere. He dedicated much of his time to volunteering, particularly with the Avalon Foundation and St. Vincent de Paul, believing wholeheartedly in the importance of community service. John sang in the Bay Country Chorus, a local barbershop style singing group that performed at many senior centers throughout the community. In his younger years, John was passionate about sports, playing softball and golf, and he enjoyed coaching his children in various activities. His love for his family was evident in everything he did, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him. A funeral mass will be held on September 12, 2024, at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 1210 S Washington St Easton, MD 21601, at 11 AM, with a visitation from 10-11 AM. Burial will follow mass at the columbarium. There will be a Celebration of Life at the Avalon Theatre following services, 40 E Dover St Unit 200 Easton, MD 21601. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Bay Country Chorus, 27675 Otwell Road, Oxford, MD 21654.
