Jessie T. Rintleman

Jessie T. Rintleman “Aunty Jay” of Bozman, MD died peacefully at her home on Saturday, October 20, 2007 with her nephew and niece by her side. She was 92. Born April 5, 1915 in Chicago, IL, she was the daughter of the late George E. and Freda Hanke Thornton. After graduation from McKinley Tech High School in Washington, DC in 1933, she attended and graduated from the Washington School of Art. She then worked at the White House designing flower arrangements for special state luncheons and dinners. During that time she also sang live commercials and songs with her sister Eileen on several radio stations in the Washington area. She went to work for The National Geographic as a commercial artist in the 1940’s. In the 1950’s she worked for the National Institute of Dry Cleaning as an Executive Secretary and in the 1960’s she went to work as a secretary for Vitro Corporation in Aspen Hill, MD until she moved to Ft. Lauderdale, FL in 1969. She pioneered the use of the electric typewriter and had the distinction of winning second place in a national speed typing competition. After her move to Ft. Lauderdale she worked at Broward County Courthouse as a court clerk until her retirement in 1985. In 2000 she moved to Bozman, MD where she lived with her nephew George, his wife Kathy, and her faithful canine companion Lucky, until her death. Her husband, James B. Rintleman died in 1974. She was a member of First Church of Christ Scientist. Mrs. Rintleman is survived by her cousin, Martha (Bebe) Kroepler, 92 of Breckenridge, CO; two nephews, George E. Ireland and his wife Kathryn, and John W. Ireland and his wife Julie all of Bozman; five great nieces and nephews, Lisa D. Willingham and her husband Stephen R., John A. Ireland II, Meagan A. Ireland, Ross Hughlett and Matt Hughlett; five great-great nieces and nephews, Stephen, Stephanie, Samuel, Sarah-Kate, and Susanna Willingham; and her caregivers, Cheryl Dennis and Donna Scharch. She was predeceased by her sister, Eileen Freda Ireland who died in April 1998, and a great-niece, Melissa Ireland Frainie who died in February 2007. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 27, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A. where friends may call one hour prior to the service.
