Jean Marie Busick

Jean Marie Busick of Centreville, MD, passed away surrounded by her family on March 23rd at Easton Hospital. She was 72. Born on March 22, 1954, in Arlington, VA, she was daughter to the late Francis Youell and Evelyn (née Teague) Youell. She is preceded in death by her siblings, Michael Youell of Grasonville, and Judy Polyak of Centreville. Jean is survived by her loving husband of 51 years, Walt Busick and her three children, Matthew (Gillian) Busick, Sara Ewing, and Craig (Molly) Busick. She was Grammy to seven beautiful grandchildren, Sophia, Dylan, Olivia, Beverly, Ruby, Evelyn, and Harry. Jean’s family was her greatest joy in life. As a mother and grandmother, Jean could always be found attending school events, practices and games, going to the beach, pool, park, or movies, hosting sleepovers and indulging as much as she could. Jean loved camping and her three children have many fond memories of summers camping in the pop-up camper. Jean and Walt’s marriage of 51 years was enviable, filled with love and laughter and a lifetime of memories that most only dream of. Jean had a long career in public service, retiring from the Maryland State Police as an Administrative Aide in 2013. During her 24 years at MSP, serving at both Easton and Centreville barracks, Jean was trusted and admired by countless state Troopers and barrack personnel. Her office door was always open and she welcomed everyone in. Jean had a work ethic that made her the go-to when things needed to get done, a heart that made her a mentor to many as they navigated their careers and family, and a sense of humor that brought laughter and fun to everyone around her. Prior to MSP, Jean worked for Caroline County Department of Social Services where she made a similar impact on those that knew her. The family will receive guests and loved ones at Fellows, Helfenbein, Newnam Funeral Home in Centreville on March 28th. Visitation is from 11-12 with memorial service beginning at noon. All are welcome to join in a gathering at the Centreville Firehouse immediately following. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Compass Regional Hospice, where Jean volunteered during her retirement.
