James Joseph Pierzynski

On March 12, 2021, James Joseph Pierzynski passed away unexpectedly at his home in Cordova, Maryland. Jim was born April 23, 1970 in Camden, New Jersey to Joseph Pierzynski and Barbara Dziedzicki Waterson, spending his childhood in the midst of extended family. Moving to the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1985 allowed Jim to continue his passions of hunting and fishing while attending Queen Anne’s County High School, graduating with the class of 1988. Jim went on to graduate from Rutgers University. Jim spent his professional career in public accounting as a CPA, CFE specializing in financial statement reporting, consulting, and fraud prevention/examinations. As a Partner in Lombardo Ayers & Company, LLC in Annapolis, Maryland, Jim enjoyed working closely with his varied clients, developing close relationships and providing services beyond those of a traditional accountant. An avid outdoorsman, Jim was happiest when fishing, hunting, and crabbing, especially if there was a fire pit at eventide. He enjoyed sharing his love of the outdoors with his wife, daughters and their friends, nephews and nieces, and anyone else he could convince to join. Jim adored his wife, daughters, and all the family pets, going to great lengths to ensure their well-being and happiness. Vacations were spent with family, exploring the coast of Maine and enjoying all Virginia Beach had to offer. As an excellent and enthusiastic cook, all were fed at anytime of day, under any circumstance, customizing as necessary to satisfy an audience ranging from hunting buddies to elementary schoolchildren to teenage girls and their friends. All will miss his multi-day gumbo recipe and peach pie. Jim was generous with his time to his ever expanding circle of friends, co-workers, and strangers needing assistance. He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Ann Sawyer; daughters, Hayley Louise Maness and Sophie Anne Maness; father, Joseph Pierzynski (Carol) of Virginia Beach, VA; mother, Barbara Waterson (Gerald) of Chestertown, MD; brother, Christopher Pierzynski and children Ben and Ava of Galena, MD; brother Brian Smith (Kelley) and children Olivia and Nick of Hoboken, NJ; aunt, Krystyna Sanderson of Voorhees, NJ; aunt, Joan Mitchell of Somerdale, NJ; mother-in-law, Betty Lou Sawyer of W. Gouldsboro, ME; brother-in-law, Thomas Sawyer (Karena) of Gouldsboro, ME. We will all miss his kind heart, friendship, and steady, reassuring ways. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a memorial service will be held at a later date.
