James Robert Finnimore

James Robert Finnimore, Jr., “Jimmy,” passed away at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD, on January 8, 2023. He was 66 years old. Jimmy was born in Philadelphia, PA, on August 27, 1956, to parents James Joseph and Rita Marie (Condon) Finnimore. He grew up in Philadelphia and worked at the Lafayette Building doing maintenance. He started coming to Duck Neck with his family and loved it. Eventually he was able to make that area his home. He loved fishing and crabbing, and you would often see him walking. He loved being outside. He also loved his sweets and his sister, Kathleen, nicknamed him "Buddy the Elf." He loved sugar. He had a wonderful sense of humor. For the last five years, his sister Kathleen helped Jimmy as he battled cancer. The Dr said he was Superman as he exceeded their expectations with treatment. An infection from a recent surgery was more than his body could handle. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen Finnimore Patrick and her husband Wilber “Tom” Patrick of Chestertown, MD, who lovingly cared for him for the last 28 years; a sister, Barbara Stilling of Galena, MD; and a brother, Robert Finnimore, Sr., of Philadelphia. Although Jimmy never married or had any children, he was lucky enough to have many nieces and nephews. He was especially close to Rita Belfiore (George), Earl Hartman (Jennifer), David Baranowski, Kevin Hartman (Tanya). Jimmy is also survived by Jennifer Cartwright (Matthew), Robert Finnimore, Jr., Steven and Michael and Stephanie Shepherd, Amanda Finnimore, John Finimore (Margie) Colleen Finnimore and Matthew Finnimore. He enjoyed a fantastic relationship with his many great nieces and nephews as he enjoyed clowning around with them, especially Alexa (Tom Wilson) and Brandon Weaver, Christopher and Jonathan Hartman and Alyssa Hartman. Jimmy had a very special bond with Alexa’s son, his great-great nephew, Nash Wilson, who brought such joy to him. His face would light up at even the mention of Nash’s name, and Nash just adored his Uncle Jimmy. He was predeceased by his parents, James Joseph Finnimore and Rita Marie Finnimore; a sister, Patricia Finnimore; and a brother, John Finnimore. He was also predeceased by his beloved bull mastiff, Tank. Interment will be held at Crumpton Cemetery on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 3 pm. Buddy the Elf – love of candy.
