H. Wayne Gagalski

H. Wayne Gagalski, Sr. of Rock Hall, Maryland died on December 31, 2006 at the University of Maryland after battling a long illness. He was 64. He was born in Rock Hall, Maryland on October 22, 1942 the son of the late, Joseph and Elsie Porter Gagalski. He is the husband of 42 years to Rosemary H. Gagalski. He was a 1960 graduate of Rock Hall High School and for a few years worked as a waterman. In 1963 he began his career in the Insurance Industry, starting at Peoples Life Insurance Company as a salesman. He became a branch manager with Monumental Life Insurance Company. In recognition of his sales achievement the branch was named the Wayne Gagalski Insurance Agency. Over the years of dedicated service to Monumental Life Insurance Company he achieved the honor of being number one in the country for highest sales. He later worked with FAM&M Insurance Company. He was a life member of the Rock Hall Vol. Fire Company. Mr. Gagalski traveled the world, through insurance conferences and family trips. He loved hunting both ducks and geese and was fondly known as “Goose”. Mr. Gagalski was a devoted family man, a proud father and grandfather, and loving husband. In addition to his wife he is survived by a son, H. Wayne “Buzzy” Gagalski, Jr. and his wife, April of Chestertown, MD; two daughters, Jo Ann Watson and her husband, Kevin and Sara Joiner-Gagalski and her husband, Michael, all of Rock Hall, MD; a brother, Joe “Buddy” Gagalski and his wife, Charlotte of Rock Hall and Damascus MD; a sister, Betty Elburn and her husband, Vernon of Clayton, DE; three grandchildren, Megan Watson, Nick Watson and Madison Joiner-Gagalski and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters, Delores Potguerski, Ruth “Bootsie” Samuels, Catherine Gagalski, Helen Hellman, Phyllis Brown, and a brother, Bobby Gagalski. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 5, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD where relatives and friends may call on Thursday, January 4, 2007 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 PM. Interment will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Rock Hall Vol. Fire Company, P.O. Box 577, Rock Hall, MD 21661.
