H. Thomas Williams

H. Thomas Williams of Chestertown, MD died Friday, May 24, 2002. Born in Worton, MD on March 27, 1932, he was the son of the late Henry Thomas Sr. and Ivy Lorraine Urie Williams. Mr. Williams was a 1949 graduate of the Charlotte Hall Military Academy and attended Washington College. He also studied banking and finance at University of Chicago and University of Virginia. Mr. Williams was also a graduate of the Realtors Institute. On September 13, 1958 he married Laura Lynn Davis and they resided in Rock Hall, MD. Mr. Williams worked with Chestertown Bank of Maryland beginning in 1960 and served in many capacities for 28 years. He retired as Vice President and Branch Manager of Rock Hall Branch of Chestertown Bank of Maryland in 1988. He then worked as a realtor in the Kent County Area, most recently he was an associate broker with the Hogan’s Agency. Mr. Williams’s professional memberships include the Bay Area Association of Realtors, the Bank Administration Institute (past secretary), Maryland Bankers Association (past vice president and past chairman of group five), and Maryland Young Bankers Association. He was also a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church where he was a past vestryman, past treasurer, and past chairman of the budget committee. Mr. Williams was also active with the Rock Hall Lions Club where he served in numerous leadership capacities and had over 35 years perfect attendance. He was a member of Rock Hall Yacht Club, Past Director of the United Way, and a member of Chester River Yacht and Country Club where he enjoyed golfing. In addition to his wife of 43 years, he is survived by two sons, Chip Williams of Denton, MD and Davis Williams of Alexandria, VA; a daughter, Lisa C. Ross of Virginia Beach, VA; a brother, David M. Williams of Chestertown, MD and 5 grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at St. Paul’s Cemetery on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 at 11:00 A.M. Relatives and friends may call on Tuesday, May 28, 2002 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, 130 Speer Rd. Chestertown, MD.
