Howard Corkran Larrimore

Howard Corkran “TaTa” Larrimore of Church Hill, MD died on July 24, 2004 at Corsica Hills Nursing Center in Centreville, MD. He was 82. Born near Centreville, MD on April 22, 1922 he was the son of the late, Charles Edwin and Frances Odella Hopkins Larrimore. Mr. Larrimore married the former Laura Helen Jenkins on July 5, 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre and was honorably discharged in December 1945. He returned to Queen Anne’s County where he worked with his father farming until 1951 when he began a career with the State and Queen Anne’s County Public Works in the Roads Department. He retired from QACO Department of Public Works in 1984. He was a life member of Grasonville V.F.W. and Church Hill United Methodist Church. He was a town commissioner for Church Hill. He also enjoyed working in his garden, crabbing and reminiscing with friends. Mrs. Larrimore died on July 18, 2003. Mr. Larrimore is survived by two sons, Howard C. "Larry" and his wife, Sharon Larrimore of Centreville, MD and Donald Lee "Doodle Bug" and his wife, Rowena Larrimore of Greensboro, MD; two daughters, Mary Kathryn Larrimore and her fiancée, Duncan Butler of Ingleside, MD and Laura "Wendy" and her husband, Gordon Mitchell of Church Hill, MD; 8 grandchildren, Dale Larrimore of Church Hill, MD, Douglas Larrimore of Church Hill, MD, Tommy Niehaus of Centreville, MD, Richard Niehaus of Henderson, MD, Billy Niehaus of Sudlersville, MD, Judy VanSchaik of Preston, MD, Bryant Jones and Matthew Jones, both of Chestertown, MD; 10 great grandchildren; two sisters, Grace Seward-Jones, of Ridgley MD and Emma Thomas of Chester MD. Mr. Larrimore was predeceased by his brothers, Costin, Edmon, William, Robert, and James Larrimore and three sisters, Lillian Comegys, Frances McClyment, and Helen Quimby. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 28, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 408 S. Liberty Street, Centreville, MD where relatives and friends may call on Tuesday July 27, 2004 between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 P.M. Interment will be in Chesterfield Cemetery in Centreville, MD. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Church Hill Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 66, Church Hill, MD 21623.
