Harvey S. Horsey II

Harvey S. Horsey II, a lifelong resident of Easton, died April 6, 2003. He celebrated his 75th birthday on March 1st at Genesis Eldercare-The Pines, where he was receiving care for Lewy Body Dementia. In 1949 he graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in accounting and started his business career as office manager for Chesapeake Propane Gas Company. In 1951 he married Nancy Carroll and also that same year started his 19 year career in public accounting with Granger, Faw & Company. He was a partner with that firm from 1954, when he passed the CPA exam, until 1970. He was the partner in charge of the Easton office and during that time was involved in providing advice and counsel to the local business community and was also actively involved in community affairs. Beginning in 1960, he was a board member with Easton National Bank and then served on the local advisory board of Maryland National Bank, its successor. In 1971 he left public accounting to work as Financial Vice President with Lincoln County Land and Cattle Company. The company had a variety of business interests in Maryland and Florida and he purchased the company in 1982. He was actively involved with that company until his retirement in the late 1980’s. His community activities included being President of Easton Little League, involvement with SOS of Easton High School and other organizations with Easton High School and Western Maryland College when his children were students. Buck enjoyed most sports and traveling. He was a season ticket holder for the Baltimore Colts for many years and always found time to support his children and grandchildren in their academic and sporting activities. His travels took him to Europe, Asia and all over the United States. In addition to his wife, Mr. Horsey is survived by two sons, Harvey S. Horsey III and his wife, Susan and Stuart P. Horsey and his wife, Thia all of Easton; two daughters, Pamela Horsey of Severna Park and Becky Carrico and her husband, Joe of Easton; eight grandchildren, Harvey S. Horsey IV, Spencer Horsey, Stuart P. Horsey, Jr., David Horsey, Matthew Horsey, Kevin Carrico, Brooke Carrico and Lauren Carrico, all of Easton. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2003 at 11:00 AM at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Easton, MD. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery, Easton, MD. Memorial donations may be made to Talbot County Advanced Life Support, 29241 Corkran Rd., Easton, MD 21601 or St. Mark’s United Methodist Church Scholarship Fund, 100 Peachblossom Rd.
