Harry Kirby Krams

H. Kirby Krams of Sudlersville, MD died on Tuesday, April 27, 2004 at Chester River Hospital Center. He was 87. Born February 11, 1917 in Washington, DC, he was the son of Harry F. and Virginia H. Krams. He attended elementary schools in Washington DC and graduated from Hyattsville High School, Hyattsville,MD. He graduated from Emory & Henry College of Emory, VA and the Candler School of Theology of Emory University in Atlanta, GA. He was an ordained minister of the United Methodist Church and served as a student pastor at the Pulaski Circuit of the Holston Conferences and Hiram Circuit of the North Georgia Conference and also served as full time Minister of the following churches in the Peninsula Conference, Ingleside, MD Charge, Sardis Church, St. Michaels, MD, Marshallton Church in Delaware and Brandywine Church in Wilmington, DE. He retired from the conference in 1972. Mr. Krams worked for 22 years for the state of Delaware’s Division of Juvenile Corrections as Chaplain, Social worker and as a supervisor, retiring from the State in 1979. He was a Life Member of the Delaware State, P.T.A, served as member of the Board of Directors of the Delmar and Girl Scout Board of Directors. During the World War II years, while serving Sardis Methodist Church, Mr. Krams was an active member of the St. Michaels Volunteer Fire Dept. He has been a member of the Lions Club for more than 50 years, first with the Green Hills Lions Club District 22D in Delaware and then with the Sudlersville Lions Club, District 22 B in Maryland where he served in all offices in both clubs. Mr. Krams also served as District Governor of District 22 B in 1989 to 1990. He was also Leader Dogs for the Blind Coordinator for 12 years for Lions Multiple District 22 and was honored by the Lions with a Melvin Jones Fellowship, Six International Presidents Certificates of Appreciation and an International Presidents Medal of Leadership. Mr. Krams is survived by a son, Berkeley T. Krams of Wilmington, DE; a daughter, Penny K. George of Sudlersville, MD; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren. A Memorial service will be on Tuesday, May 4, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. where friends and family may call after 10:00 a.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., 370 W.
