Grace Haddaway Cooper

Grace Haddaway “Miss Grace” Cooper, 95, of Easton, MD passed away on December 2, 2025, at The Pines Nursing and Rehab in Easton. Born on February 3, 1930, to Herbert Miles Haddaway and Edith Mae Ridgeway. Growing up in Tilghman and following her graduation from St. Michaels High School, Class of 1948, she entered the workforce. She worked as an operator for several years for the C & P Telephone Company and the Tilghman Packing Company. She followed her husband Bob when he went to work for his brother-in-law Eddie Higgins, as a server at Ocean Cove Market, St. Michaels, MD. Grace married Robert Cooper on January 14, 1951. Together they created a life full of many wonderful memories including raising their daughter Brenda, traveling with friends from seaport to seaport, and spending quality time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. In 1986 they moved from Tilghman to Easton. At that time Grace began “a second career” as a volunteer in Kindergarten classes at Easton Elementary. First, volunteering with Ms. Midge Coppersmith, she then began to volunteer with her daughter Brenda’s class for over ten years. During that time, she was honored by being named the “Maryland You Are Beautiful Award” for community service. Past memberships include: The Tilghman Methodist Church WSCS, TVFC Ladies Auxiliary, Easton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, and the Thursday Nighters Club. Mrs. Cooper is survived by her daughter Brenda and “Favorite Son-In-Law” Jim Davidson, grandchildren Dr. Robert Davidson (Dr. Ashley), Laurie Rajala (Charlie) and Mike Davidson; and great grandchildren, Charlie Rajala, Cooper Davidson, Luke Davidson, her namesake Olivia Grace Rajala, and Zachary Davidson. She is also survived by two nephews and a niece. Along with her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Herbert Haddaway, Jr. She also leaves behind two very special and dedicated friends Ms. Trisha Hughes and Mr. Ray “Pip” Faulkner. The family would like to thank Dr. Ludwig Egleseder and staff, the nursing and rehab staff at The Pines Mill Landing and the staff at Talbot Hospice. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 11am at Tilghman Methodist Church, Tilghman, MD. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Tilghman Methodist Church, Tilghman Volunteer Fire Department or Talbot Hospice. Forever in Our Hearts.
