Gladys M. Walls

Gladys Moore Walls of Centreville died at the Memorial Hospital, Easton, MD on Sunday, January 27, 2002. She was 87. Born in Barclay, MD on September 25, 1914, she was the daughter of the late Elwood B. and Bessie Jones Moore. She attended Church Hill High School and in 1933 she married Ralph P. Walls. She worked in the Chestertown Defense Plant during World War II and following the end of war she ran a bakery in Centreville and worked for the Locker Plant in Centreville. For the majority of her life she worked at the Centreville Electric Plant as a bookkeeper where she retired after many years of service. She was a member of the Centreville United Methodist Church, the Ladies Auxiliary of the Goodwill Volunteer Fire Company, Centreville, MD, a member of the Women of the Moose, Easton, MD and was a very active member of the Rebecca Lodge of Centreville where she held many state officers positions in both the Moose and the Rebecca Lodge. Mr. Walls died on January 2, 1997. Mrs. Walls is survived by two sons, Donald R. Walls and Gerald “Jerry” P. Walls, both of Centreville; a sister, Audrey Merchant of St. Petersburg, FL; four grandchildren, Lynn Ewing of Easton, Steve Walls, Mark Walls and Robert Walls, all of Centreville and 11 great-grandchildren, Kyle Ewing of Radford,VA, Jason Ewing, Brett Ewing, Kate Ewing, all of Easton, MD, Shanna Walls Kendall and Zachary Walls, both of Centreville, MD, Brooke Walls, Rodger Walls, Jr. Nicki Blackston, all of Bear, DE and Ryan Walls and Dane Walls, both of Centreville, MD. She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Alvin Moore, Elwood Moore and Spencer Moore and two sisters, Myrtle Usilton and Peachie Usilton and a grandson, Roger B. Walls who died in March 1996. Funeral services will be held at the Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, Centreville on Wednesday, January 30, 2002 at 2:00 PM where friends and family may call from 1 – 2 PM. Burial will be at Chesterfield Cemetery, Centreville, MD.
