George William Davis

George William Davis of Sudlersville, MD passed away on Monday, Oct. 25, 2021 at his home in Sudlersville. He was 85. George graduated from Centreville High School and then took two years at Chesapeake College studying food service and dairy farming. He worked most of his life as a Correctional Dietary Supervisor for the State of Maryland Department of Corrections. Throughout his life he was very active in his community where he was a Maryland All Star and 4H leader for 30 years, he coached little league for a number of years, George was a member of the Sudlersville Ruritans, Member of Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, treasurer, and kitchen chairman. He was very active in both Sudlersville Elementary and Middle schools PTA and the Queen Anne’s County Band Boosters. George loved hunting and was and Andelot Hall of Fame member and he loved doing chicken barbeques and working and J&P Hunting Lodge. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Walter Davis and Frank Davis and one sister, Dorothy Shanks. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Martin Davis of Sudlersville, MD, one daughter, Melinda Jane Rhodes (Greg) of Millington, MD, two sons, John Lewis Davis (Becky) of Chestertown, MD, George Douglas Davis (Jane) of Rising Sun, MD, one brother, Allen B. Davis of Grasonville, MD, eight grandchildren, Lyle Hammer of Worton, MD, Alexander Davis of Chestertown, MD, Molly Davis of Manassas, VA, Melyn Rhodes of Millington, MD, Gregory Rhodes (Brandi) of Chestertown, MD, Nikole Grimm (Christian) of Fort Bliss, TX, Anthony Michael Carr (Denise) of Bel Air, MD, Taylor Carr of Newport, DE, and two great grandchildren, Landon and Haylee Grimm. A visitation will be held Thursday, Nov. 4, 2021 from 6-8pm at Fellows Family Funeral Home 370 Cypress St. Millington, MD 21651. Services will be held on Friday, Nov. 5, 2021 at 11am at Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church in Sudlersville, MD. Friends may call one hour prior to service. Interment will follow the service in Sudlersville Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to Calvary Asbury United Methodist Church P.O.
