Gene Grace Sinclair

Gene Grace Sinclair of Worton, MD died on Friday, July 11, 2003 at Chester River Hospital Center in Chestertown, MD. She was 76. Born in Brier Hill, NY on January 5, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Lloyd Hampton and Erdine Beatrice Eldridge Grace. After graduating High School, Mrs. Sinclair received her Registered Nurse Licensure from Champlain Valley Hospital, School of Nursing in Plattsburg, NY in 1947. On December 7, 1951 she married John William Sinclair. Mrs. Sinclair was on the staff at Glen Cove Community Hospital, Queens General Hospital, and South Hampton Hospital all in New York. After moving from Long Island to Connecticut in 1960, she worked as a private duty nurse while raising her family. In 1970, she took a position as the Director of Nursing Services at Norwichtown Convalescent Home in Connecticut. She served in this capacity until moving to Wilmington, NC in 1984 where she worked once again as a private duty nurse until retiring in 1988. Her husband predeceased her in October of 1990 and in 1996 she moved to Worton, MD During Mrs. Sinclair’s career she held RN licenses in New York, Connecticut, Florida, North Carolina and South Carolina. She enjoyed sewing, needlework, crafts, and gardening. Mrs. Sinclair also was very interested in computer genealogical research. Mrs. Sinclair is survived by four daughters, Kathleen S. Glover of Worton, MD, Heather S. Lewis of Easton, MD, Saundra S. Woronik of Salem, CT, and Diane S. Nickerson of Chaplin, CT; a stepson, Ellery W. Sinclair of Falls Village, CT; a sister, Carolyn Cornell of Rouses Point, NY; a brother, Lloyd Frederick Grace of Port Charlotte, FL; 8 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and several nieces and nephews. One brother, Charles Hampton Grace and a stepson, J. Sheldon Sinclair both predeceased her. Private family services will be held on Monday, July 14, 2003 at 5:00 PM at Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 130 Speer Road, Chestertown, MD. Interment will be in New Bern National Cemetery in New Bern, NC.
