Esther Secrist Dill

Esther Secrist Dill of Easton died on Friday, January 29, 2010, at the Hospice of Queen Anne’s in Centreville, MD. She was 84. Born on May 9, 1925, she was the daughter of the late, Henry Clay Woolford and Anna Greaves Woolford. Esther attended school in Kent County. During World War II, Esther worked at the Defense Plant, as well as, worked in the Kent County area up until 1950 when she married her husband Glenn B. Secrist, Sr. She later worked as a homemaker for many years and as a seamstress until her husband’s passing in 1978. The most enjoyable aspect of her life was spending time with her family. Her children and grandchildren were everything to her. Most will remember her smiles, laughter, boundless energy and zest for life. Esther is survived by a daughter, Cathy Mueller and husband, Bob of Centreville, MD; a son, Calvin Secrist and wife, Nancy of Secretary, MD; a daughter, Nancy Borga and husband, Alex of Cordova, MD; a son, Glenn B. Secrist, Jr. and wife, Susan of Greensboro, MD; and two step children, G. Lee Secrist of Cordova, MD and Shirley Mattox of Easton, MD. Additional surviving family members include, Blanche Usilton of Greensboro, MD, fifteen grandchildren, Kelly Johnson of Hillsboro, MD , Heidi Poore of Fairlee, MD, Nick Borga and Katie Borga of Cordova, MD, Jamie Secrist of Felton, DE, Kevin Secrist of Secretary, MD, Shannon Shanks of Henderson, MD, Jason Shanks of Preston, MD, Mike Shanks of Easton, MD, Frank Mayer of Greensboro, MD, Faryne Mayer of Henderson, MD , Mark Secrist and Bruce Secrist of Cordova, MD, Michael Mattox of Queen Anne, MD, and Debbie Teat of St. Michaels, MD, and many great grandchildren . In addition to her parents, Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn B. Secrist, Sr, and ten siblings. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 4, 2010, at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., Easton at 11:00 A.M. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Burial will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park, Easton.
