Elizabeth Ann "Liz" Platt

Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Sullivan Platt of Easton, MD, died peacefully at home on October 8, 2014, surrounded by her husband, children, and sister. Born in Baltimore, MD, on April 4, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Walter E. and Dorothy V. Sullivan. Liz graduated from Lower Marion High School in 1953, and married William M. Platt on December 18, 1954. After they married, they were stationed in Nurnberg, Germany, until 1956. Upon returning to the states, they resided in Berwyn, PA, until 1972, and then moved to Wayland, MA. In 1989, Liz and Bill became permanent residents in Easton, MD. She was a member of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Oxford, Academy Art Museum, Garden Club of America, Talbot County Garden Club, and the Tred Avon Yacht Club. An avid reader, she enjoyed her book club and the daily challenges of the New York Times crossword puzzles. She was also an active member of a bridge club and Bible group. Liz and her husband, Bill, were avid travelers, exploring new destinations around the world. She also enjoyed her feet in the sand and the sun on her face at Bethany Beach with her family and grandchildren. Liz was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother and affectionately known as “Gigi” to her grandchildren. Liz is survived by her husband, William M. Platt, of 61 years; sisters, Carolee S. Roy of Auburn, CA, Jennifer S. Stanley of Redmond, WA; four children; and four grandchildren; daughter,, Elizabeth P. Dahlen and her husband Gary B. Dahlen, their son Christopher and daughter Elizabeth of Gettysburg, PA; son William M. Platt, Jr., and his wife Betsy of Westford, MA; son Christopher W. Platt of West Palm Beach, FL; and daughter Karen P. Donahue and her husband Brian F. Donahue, their sons Connor and Ryan of Medford, MA. A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, October 12, 2014, at 12:30 p.m., at the Church of the Holy Trinity in Oxford, MD. Inurnment will be private.
