Elizabeth B. Kehoe

Elizabeth Burlee "Betty" Kehoe of Easton, MD, died at University of Maryland Shore Medical Center in Easton on June 22, 2015, after a brief illness. Born August 19, 1925, at Tree Hill Farm in Richmond, VA, she was the daughter of W.J. Burlee and Margaret Hughes Burlee, who are now deceased. Betty graduated from Cathedral High School in Richmond, and obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity College in Washington, DC, and a Master's Degree in Social Work from University of Maryland School of Social Work. She was, for many years, a social worker specializing in the needs of the elderly on the Eastern Shore. She also taught English at Stingarn High School in Washington, DC, for several years. She was a tireless volunteer for the Talbot County Free Library, Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church; the literacy program of the Talbot County Detention Center; and as a Court-Appointed Special Advocate for the Talbot County Circuit Court among others. She is survived by six children, Susan E. Kehoe, Christopher B. Kehoe (Maureen), and Stephen H. Kehoe of Easton; William A. Kehoe (Debra Bowen) of Rockville, MD; Dennis P. Kehoe (Constance Mui) of New Orleans, LA; and Maureen Kehoe Ostensen (George) of Hope, ME; and seven grandchildren, Katie Kehoe (Andrew L'Ecuyer) and Christopher B. Kehoe, Jr., of New Orleans, and James G. Kehoe of Easton; Kathryn A. Kehoe and William B. Kehoe of Rockville, MD; and Joergen K. Ostensen and Frances A. Ostensen of Hope. She was preceded in death by her husband, William A. Kehoe, Jr.; her two sisters, Margaret B. Considine of Princeton, NJ; and Josephine B. Zeller of Wilmington, NC; and by her brother, W.J. Burlee, Jr. of Tree Hill Farm. The family wishes to thank Michael J. Fisher, M.D. and the physicians and staff of the Palliative Care Unit of the Shore Medical Center for their compassionate care their mother in her last days; Dale Copper, who was a steadfast friend and helper in good times and bad; and the residents and staff at Londonderry Retirement Community. A visitation will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2015, from 6– 8 p.m. at Fellows, Helfenbein & Newnam Funeral Home, P.A., 200 S. Harrison St., Easton. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated on Friday, June 26, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Easton. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Cordova.
