Edward Kline Blumenauer Jr.

Edward Kline Blumenauer, Jr. of Stevensville, formerly of Middletown, MD, died at his home on Monday, June 10, 2002. He was 71. Born in Frederick, MD on March 18, 1931, he was the son of Ruth Baer Blumenauer of Frederick and the late Edward Kline Blumenauer, Sr. He was a 1948 graduate of Frederick High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict in the Signal Corp in Japan. Following his honorable discharge from the military he returned to Frederick where he began his career with the telephone company where he retired with 37 years of service in 1990 as an Engineering Assistant. In 1986 he moved to Stevensville. He was a member of the Bay Country Moose Lodge #831, Queenstown, the American Legion, FSK Post 11 of Frederick, the Telephone Pioneers of America, the Evangelical Reformed Church, UCC and the Communication Workers of America. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Joan Blumenauer; a son, Donald Blumenauer and his wife, Nancy of Knoxville, MD; three daughters, Deborah Blumenauer of Carlisle, PA, Dawn Itzkowitz and her husband, Brian of Westminster, MD and Daria Van Liew and her husband, Todd of Stevensville, MD; a brother, Robert Blumenauer and his wife, Betty of St. James City, FL; two sisters, Jean Lentz and Jane Doll and her husband Jack, all of Frederick, MD; eight grandchildren, Angie, Jennifer, Leslie, Lindsey, Brian and Keith Blumenauer and Braeden and Bryce Itzkowitz and a special friend, Donna Turner. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gary Blumenauer and Edward K. Blumenauer, III and a sister, June Starr. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 15, 2002 at 11:00 AM at the Evangelical Reformed Church, UCC, Trinity Chapel, West Church St., Frederick, MD 21701. Friends and family may call at the Stauffer Funeral Home, 1621 Opossumtown Pike, Frederick, MD on Friday, June 14, 2002 from 7 – 9 PM. In lieu of flowers the family requests contributions to Hospice of Queen Anne’s County, Inc., 300 Del Rhodes Avenue, Queenstown, MD 21658 or the Evangelical Reformed Church, United Church of Christ, 15 W.
