Edna Lewis

Edna May Lewis passed away on Friday, January 11, 2008 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 86 years old. Edna was born on May 31, 1921 in Baltimore, MD, the daughter of the late Charles Irvin Blizzard and Hattie Eleanor Collier Blizzard. On May 31, 1938 she married Rufus McKenney Lewis. Edna raised their family while Rufus was in the Navy. She helped her aunt at the Boarding House and worked for 26 years at Fox’s five and dime store. She was also a licensed commercial waterwoman who crabbed. She volunteered at Percy Thomas Senior Center and helped in the kitchen where she was Volunteer of the Year. She enjoyed going to church and oil painting. Edna loved to be around her family. She was a member of the Kent Island United Methodist Church and a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 7464. Edna is survived by her daughter, Nancy Louise Sadler and her husband Joseph Warren, 2 sons, Charles Larry Lewis and his wife Nancy H. Lewis, and Robert McKenney Lewis and his wife Elizabeth Temple Lewis; 5 grandchildren, Joseph Warren Sadler, Jr and his wife Karen, Robert Donald Sadler and his wife Debbie, Kimberly Lewis Miller and her husband John, Robin Lewis Kneis, and Robert Charles Lewis; 7 great grandchildren, Joseph Warren Sadler, III, Kristy Ann Malecki and her husband Darryl, Jason Cory Sadler and his wife Becky, Lewis John Miller, Michael Kneis. Jason Kneis, and C.J. Kneis; a great great grandchild, Hayden Anthony Malecki; 3 siblings, Catherine Graham of West Grove, PA., Rose Smith of Queenstown, MD, and Dallas Carter of NC. She is predeceased by her husband Rufus M. Lewis (1992), and brothers, Charles I. Blizzard and Herman Allan Blizzard. A funeral service will be held 11AM on Tuesday January 15, 2008 at the Kent Island United Methodist Church, Stevensville, MD where friends and family may call one hour prior. Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park in Easton, MD.
