Dorothy Chicca Caccamise

Dorothy Chicca Caccamise, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully at Talbot Hospice House on May 7, 2025, at the age of 100. Born on January 19, 1925, she was the daughter of Angelina A. Giovannoni and Joseph Alfred Chicca. Dorothy was predeceased by her only child, Joseph Woodrow Caccamise, in April 2024; her grandson-in-law, Robert Wilkerson; and her sister, Armina “Nina” Cecilia. She is survived by her granddaughters: Kelly Wilkerson of Greensboro, MD; Kacey Smith (Christopher) of Odenton, MD; Kristie Amritt of Douglasville, GA; and Maria Caccamise of Thurmont, MD. She also leaves behind a legacy of love in her great-grandchildren: Katelin Amritt, Samantha Smith, Sarah Smith, Korie Amritt Harris, Jared Amritt, Kenzie Amritt, Alexandra Wilkerson, Abigail Smith, Andrew Smith, and Joshua Wilkerson. Born in Washington, D.C., Dorothy was a longtime resident of Arlington, Virginia, where she worked for many years at the Defense Intelligence Agency, proudly serving her country. She later made her home in Easton, MD with her son. But her greatest joy, by far, was her role as “Grandma C.” Dorothy cherished every moment with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren — whether playing Rummy 500, shopping together, or celebrating holidays and birthdays, with Christmas holding a special place in her heart. She delighted in showering them with love, laughter, and gifts, always finding joy in picking out just the right things. Her handmade crocheted blankets, lovingly made for family and friends alike, became treasured keepsakes and lasting symbols of her kindness. She had a lifelong love for playing cards, dogs, word searches, puzzles, and cheering on the Washington Redskins and Capitals. Dorothy's warmth, kindness, and humor left a lasting impression on all who knew her. She was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed. A catholic service will be held on Wednesday May 21st, 2025, starting at 11am at Fellows, Helfenbein, and Newnam Funeral Home in Easton, MD. Friends and family may call one hour prior to the service. Burial will take place at Lakemont Memorial Gardens at 1pm.
