Dorothy Beatrice Brown

Dorothy Beatrice Collins Brown was born September 9, 1924, to the late Ada Wilmer Johnson and Charles Olandus Collins in Still Pond, Maryland. God called her home on December 28, 2025. In 1948, she was united in marriage to the late George “Rudolph” Brown. They shared a bond rooted in devotion and partnership for 60 years together as they built a beautiful family. From this union they had five children, Thomas, Tyrone, Cornell, Morris and Diane. During her working years, Dorothy worked at Vita Foods as a factory worker and Magnolia Hall as a cook. She also worked for the Mangal and Bramble families for over 27 years as a domestic worker. Dorothy was a sweet, kind spirited and loving lady. She always greeted you with a smile. Full of style and grace, Dorothy took great pride in her appearance; always topping off her attire with a snazzy stylish hat. Her faith was the foundation of her life. A few of her favorite hymns were Grace and Mercy and Walk around Heaven. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church where she was a member of the choir for many years, President of the Methodist Women, Chairman of the kitchen hall, church Treasurer, member of the Pastor Perish Relations Committee and the Silver Leaf Chorus. She was a proud lifetime member of Sarah E. Travers Chapter No. 50 Order of the Eastern Star Prince Hall Affiliation where she served as Worthy Matron (1966). In 2024, the Mayor of Chestertown proclaimed September 9th as Dorothy Beatrice Brown Day to celebrate her 100th birthday. She was honored by her friends and family as a great pillar of the community. Preceding Dorothy in death is her beloved husband Rudolph, sons Morris and Thomas Sr. and grandson Tyrone. Left to cherish her loving memory and profound legacy are her three children, Tyrone (Elsie d. 2019), Cornell (Blonzetta), and Diane; seven grandchildren, Yvette (Ron), Myer, Thomas Jr. (Eleanor), Darren, Terrell (Jeffrey), Richard (Sonya) and Kenyetta; nine great-grandchildren, Shanna (Omar), Kapri, Kyle (Bre), Curtis, Jasmine, Devan, Richard Jr., Raven and Hollace; four great-great-grandchildren, Oakland, Omar Jr., Hendrix and Isaiah; two sisters in-law, Erlena (Fred), and Eleanor; one Godson, Mark Sampson; special friends Mary Katherine Grinnell and Doris Scott; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Acknowledgements We, the family of the late Dorothy Brown, would like to extend our sincere appreciation for the kind expressions of sympathy extended to us during our time of bereavement. We would also like to give special thanks to Nurse Karen and all the caretakers, especially Cathy, at The Resorts of Chester River Manor. Services will be held on Saturday, January 10 at 1:00 pm at Asbury UMC (Georgetown). A viewing will be held two hours prior, from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at the church. Interment to follow at the Asbury UMC Cemetery.
