Doris Helene Winter

Doris Helene Siepmann Winter, age 85, of Kentmore Park, Kennedyville, MD, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2014. Born in Belleville, NJ, Doris was the daughter of William and Elsie Lutz Siepmann who immigrated from Germany. She was the first in her family to be born in the United States. Doris was active in many charitable and volunteer organizations and served as a Cub Scout den mother, a Deacon in the Wayne Presbyterian Church, president of the Chester County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, board member of several hospital auxiliaries including Kent and Queen Anne Hospital, and member and past President of the Maryland Questers. She volunteered for the Republican Party for over 50 years. For the last eight years, Doris worked part-time at the Visitors Center in Chestertown, MD. She truly enjoyed all her friends and neighbors that she made throughout her life, from Glenside and Berwyn, PA, to Kentmore Park, MD. She loved to garden, entertain, travel the world, and, most of all, loved her home, family, and her cat Barney. Doris was pre-deceased by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard. L. Winter, and a brother, William W. Siepmann. She is survived by her two cherished sons, Richard B. Winter and his wife, Beverly of Runnemede, NJ, and Dr. Robert D. Winter and his wife Kathleen of Wilmington, DE; six wonderful grandchildren, Richard III, Robert and Donald Winter and Douglas, Lauren, and Caroline Winter; great-granddaughter, Brynna Rae Winter. Doris is survived by many nieces and nephews including, Linda Blackshear (Bill), Ranell Winter, W. Alan Winter, Esq. and Sally Winter (Mike), Cheri Winter and Jeff Winter, Barry Siepmann (Dawn), Darlene Siepmann and Debbie Siepmann. Doris was very fond of the many now grown children of friends who called her Aunt Doris their entire lives. Lynn Redles Goldberg was the special daughter she never had. Services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Chestertown, 905 Gateway Drive, Chestertown, MD, where friends may call one hour prior. Interment services will take place at 1:30 p.m., in Shrewsbury Cemetery in Kennedyville, MD. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Kent County, P.O.
