Dorathy R. Risley

Dorathy Roberta Taylor Risley of Chester, MD died Monday, February 21, 2005 at Memorial Hospital in Easton, MD. She was 88. Born on January 10, 1917, she was the daughter of the late, Elizabeth Teresa Schleicher and Frank Seth Taylor, Sr. She grew up in Chester, MD and graduated from Stevensville High School, Class of 1934. On January 19, 1935, she married Leonard Risley of Grasonville, MD. She began working when her children were almost finished with high school in the Stevensville High School cafeteria. She later worked for the Department of Natural Resources in Annapolis, MD for almost twenty years. She retired in 1979. Mrs. Risley was very active in her community. She was a charter member of the Kent Island Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and past President of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Kent Island Yacht Club in 1979. She was also very active in helping her husband as Commodore of the Kent Island Yacht Club. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family. Mrs. Risley is survived by two daughters, Lorraine Haddaway of Grasonville, MD and Tekla Anthony & husband, Vince of Queenstown, MD; one brother, Frank Taylor of Chester, MD; four grandchildren, Kenny Haddaway, Jr. of Trappe, MD, Lennie Anthony of Queenstown, MD, Lonnie Anthony of Queenstown, MD and Lynn Clevenger of Centreville, MD and five great grandchildren, Kyle Haddaway, Amanda Clevenger, Stephanie Anthony, Lisa Anthony and Staci Anthony. She was predeceased by her husband, Leonard Risley, a brother, George Lewis Taylor and one son-in-law, Kenny Haddaway. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Fellows, Helfenbein and Newnam Funeral Home, P. A., 106 Shamrock Rd., Chester MD on Thursday, February 24, 2005 from 2-4PM and 6-8PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 25, 2005 at 2PM at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Stevensville Cemetery, Stevensville, MD.
